Ever wanted to give back to your community in a meaningful and enriching way? Now is your chance. Volunteers are a vital part of Distress Centres. Every year, volunteers contribute more than 110,000 hours to our 24-hour distress and crisis lines, providing immediate access to help and support.
Apply to become a placement student at one of our centres in Peel, Downtown Toronto or North York. The application is simple and quick to complete.
Partnerships and affiliations with academic institutions provide opportunities for our staff to teach students in a formalized setting and encourage growth and further opportunities within their respective field of study. All students are partnered with knowledgeable staff who provide mentorship, and supervision. Placement opportunities are only available to students who are currently enrolled in an academic program and are required to complete a practicum or training placement to fulfill program requirements.
To be eligible for a student placement all students must submit an application with their resume, participate in an interview, provide references, complete a Police Background Check, and if program requires – complete additional training. If you are interested in a Student Placement with Distress Centres of Greater Toronto, please complete the application form and submit your cover letter and resume to Natasha Villacis at nvillacis@dcogt.com.
